I seem to have been bitten by The Daily Post’s prompts and challenges this week. To me, doing them is a nice little break from studying (though I must admit I end up taking way too long a break when I do come onto the blogs *innocent whistle*). Anyways, this week’s writing challenge has to do with music which is kind of ironic because lately I’ve posted quite a few music videos. The Daily Post has also asked us in the past about the mix tape of your life as well as the role that music plays in your life and even though I did those two, I figured that I may as well do this one as well.
Music plays such a big part in my life. A day can’t be considered as complete if I haven’t listened to at least one song. I also quite often have a “song of the moment” which is one that I don’t mind putting on repeat and listening to a few times before I move on to the next song. At the moment, I actually have two songs of the moment.
I listen to quite a wide variety of music and it is literally impossible for me to choose a favourite artist. Whenever I sign up for a new account online, I always make sure that I don’t chose that as my security question because I would never get it right. I can tell you that at the moment, one of my favourite bands is Imagine Dragons.
Even worse than trying to pick a favourite artist is to try and pick a favourite song. There are millions of songs out there and to pick out one song amongst all of them and declare it my favourite song would be unfair to the rest of them. One song that would have to make the list is Summer of ’69 by Bryan Adams.
I also listen to what my bro calls “sophisticated music” which mostly includes classical and opera music. You can look at my posts on my current study music and previous study music to see my favourites from that genre.
Then there’s various songs for various moods and stages in my life. For the sake of not turning this into a 100 page post, I’ve just created hyperlinks for these songs instead of embedding the video.
– “Study Hard Anthem”, a parody of LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”, reminds me of my last year of being a student.
– Simple Plan’s “Welcome to my Life” is what I call my reject song which is what I often listen to when someone makes me feel useless and just brings me down in general.
– Tony Orlando’s “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree” takes me back to my childhood years because when I was younger, my parents would go to visit one of their friends and quite often they would end up singing karaoke and they always started off with this song.
– Backstreet Boys’ “As Long As You Love Me” marked the beginning of my teenage years and my boy band phase.
– Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses” is one of my favourite ballads. I got goosebumps when I went to his concert and heard this song, it was amazing.
– Michael Buble is one of my favourite artists and his song “Everything” makes me think of my first, and so far, only boyfriend.
I could go forever with this list but I think now would be a good time to stop. However, I can’t just end off this post without posting this final song by Abba.
Ah, reading this makes me so GLEEful!
The latest episode where they’re mourning the death of Finn isn’t gleeful at all. I couldn’t stop balling my eyes out!
Quite a selection. I like the last one in particular. Abba did have something.
I think you like the last one the most because it’s back from “your days” π
To be honest, it is way past ‘my days’!
Ah yes, I remember Abba. More my era than yours, I would imagine. π
There’s no expiry date on music π
Very true. π
I also listen to a very wide variety of music and have so many artists that I like that I can also not really single any one out to be my top favourite π
It’s always nice to listen to a wide variety, there’s always something for every mood that your in π
Exactly π

I like your selection and I love Anna Kendrick’s song… Who knew the gal could sing? And here I thought she was just madly in love with Edward in the Twilight movies… lol.
I haven’t watched or read anything related to Twilight… The first time I saw her was in “Pitch Perfect”. That’s an awesome movie if you like acapella music
